This week, we're highlighting some exciting lots from Fellows Auctioneers' latest Watches & Watch Accessories auction. Whilst some lots more than doubled their estimates, others stood out for their historical significance as military items.
First up on this week’s featured lots is a bi-metal Speedmaster Mk 11 chronograph bracelet watch by Omega. Fitted to a signed bi-metal bracelet with folding clasp, with a stainless steel case, this is one of Omega’s most iconic timepieces. Having been part of all six lunar missions, the Speedmaster is an impressive representation of adventurous pioneering spirit. This item was the highest selling item of the auction with a price realised of £4,210.
Next up, we have this stainless steel SuperOcean chronograph bracelet watch by Breitling. The SuperOcean series was originally created in 1957 to equip professional and military divers. Whilst part of this auction’s small repairs range, recommended for spares or repair purposes only, it eclipsed it’s £500 - £700 estimate, with a final price realised of £2,105.
Continuing with the military theme, we have a WWII wrist compass on an original A.F.0210 military strap. Fitted to an original sand fabric, this silvered dial with gunmetal case had a price realised of £484.00. Traditionally used by paratroopers, wrist compasses were used by officers and enlisted men unlike the lensatic and marching compasses.
Up next we have this Pelagos Titanium Bracelet Watch by Tudor. Standing out with its titanium bracelet, featuring a steel folding clasp and auto-adjustable spring mechanism, this lot nearly doubled it’s estimate of £600 - £800 with a price realised of £1,722. This watch was made for divers, with its technical system allowing the bracelet to be adjusted during the dive as it contracts when compressed at greater depths and expands when pressure decreases.
Last but certainly not least, we have this timeless half hunter pocket watch complete with yellow metal case and enamel detailing. Known for their see-through lids, half hunter pocket watches allow you to check the time without opening the watch, making it the perfect choice for combining practicality and stylishness. With it’s estimate starting at £550, it realised a sensational final price of £2,105.
