Auction Highlights From the Ewbank's Entertainment & Memorabilia Premier Sale. This auction included some very interesting and exciting lots for collectors and film fanatics. Read on to see some of our hand picked favourite lots.
The first chosen lot from the Entertainment & Memorabilia Premier Sale is this Martin D-45 Custom acoustic guitar. The Mandolin Brothers of Staten Island NY, commissioned Martin to build 91 D-45 guitars based on the specifications of the original pre-war D-45's, known as the 'Holy Grail' of steel stringed acoustic guitars. This guitar offered for sale is number 1 of 91 of the custom made D-45's produced by Martin exclusively for the Mandolin Bros. The plaque sits inside on the neck block. We believe only around 60 were ever produced.
The second chosen lot is this very interesting Gerry Anderson Puppet head. A revamp puppet head made for Captain Scarlet / Joe 90 / Secret Service. A male character head, with brown hair, moving mouth. Approx. 20 cm. This was Lot 40 in the famous Phillips September 1995 Toys and Dolls Auction. 'Revamped' heads were used as extras in the series and were often revamped into other characters throughout the different series. This lot was extremely popular and sold for way over the estimate of £3,000 - £5,000.
The third lot we've chosen is a magnificent one, from James Bond - The Man With The Golden Gun. This Factory Entertainment Dual signed Limited Edition Replica Golden Gun is from 2010. It is officially licensed by Danjaq LLC and EON and plated in 18 carat gold, signed by both Sir Roger Moore (James Bond) and Sir Christopher Lee (Scaramanga). It is a limited edition of only 400 that were made (this being number 115). It comes with the 007 engraved bullet and a bonus set of 5 extra golden bullets, that were only awarded to pre-order customers. Comes complete with display case and original boxes, and accompanying leaflet. Also included are two replica rings in case of the Scaramanga characters signet rings.
The fourth chosen lot from the Entertainment & Memorabilia Sale is this David O. Selznick Presentation custom-bound Final Script of The Prisoner of Zenda Inscribed to C. Aubrey Smith - Selznick International Pictures, 1937. Mimeographed screenplay by John L. Balderston, dated March 13, 1937 and marked Final Shooting Script on title page, 154 pages, with 4 inlaid silver gelatin scene stills. The script is 9 ½ x 7 ½ inches and inscribed on the preliminary page by David O. Selznick to cast member, C. Aubrey Smith. The script was custom-bound in morocco and cloth with The Prisoner of Zenda embossed in gilt on front cover and spine, and C. Aubrey Smith embossed in gilt on lower right corner of front cover.
The fifth and final lot from this sale is this Liberator teleport bracelet from the BBC sci-fi television series Blake's 7. Teleport bracelets were seen in the episode 'Killer' Series 2. The bracelet is decorated in metallic brown paint with silver-and-light-brown-coloured decals. The device is opened with a clasp. 9cm diameter. This was given to the vendor in 1994. The bracelet was "rescued" from the set during the filming of Series 2.
