Auction Highlights from Ewbank's Fine Wines & Spirits Sale

First up in our featured lots taken from the auction highlights of Ewbank's Fine Wine & Spirits sale is this excellent 12 bottle lot of Domaines Barons De Rothschild's 2000-vintage Pauillac. Offering a deep, dark, virtually opaque ruby-red, this wine will provide restrained red-fruit notes dominated by clean cedary oak on the nose with a very long finish that's lovely and fresh. In addition to their very exclusive wines, Barons de Rothschild has for many years created a range of more accessible wines for everyday drinking. This lot exceeded it's £500 estimate for a hammer price of £845.00.

Our second featured lot taken from our auction highlights of Ewbank's Fine Wine & Spirits sale, powered by Auction Marketer, is this excellent 3-bottle collection of Macallan whisky, including Macallan's 12 Year Old Sherry Oak, Select Oak (The 1824) and 10 Year Old Sherry Oak. These timeless whiskies, both oaky and peppery on the nose with hints of Black Forest gauteux and marshmallows, lives long in the memory. Macallan's obsession with quality since 1824 has made their whisky sought-after at auctions, with this collection more than quadrupling it's £150.00 estimate for a fantastic final price of £650.00.

Our third featured lot in our auction highlights of Ewbank's recent Fine Wine & Spirits Sale is this excellent 12 bottle case of Cockburn's 1991 Vintage Port. This vintage bottle from Port revolutionaries Cockburn's gives ripe, moderately intense, tasty aromas of damp earth, tar, and black fruits, followed by a full-bodied wine with excellent richness and a firmly delineated personality. It hit a fantastic final hammer price of £416.00.

Our fourth featured lot from our auction highlights of Ewbank's Fine Wine & Spirits sale showcases how Niepoort's wines always age well. Their 1952 vintage port has serious staying power - it's fragrant on the nose with the notes of brambles, rose petals and sweet berries flowing onto the medium-bodied palate, held delightfully in check by the spicy spirit of the finish. This classic bottle more than doubled it's £150 estimate for an excellent £364 hammer price.

Our fifth and final featured lot in this week's auction highlights of Ewbank's Fine Wine & Spirits sale is this very rare Islay single malt whisky distilled at Lagavulin in 1979, double matured for over 16 years and finished in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. This litre-sized release is the very first edition bottling of 'The Distillers Edition' from 1997, numbered 4 out of a limited edition of 463 bottles. This wonderful lot nearly quadrupled it's £200 estimate for a final price of £715.
