Technical Project Manager

Summary

Due to continued growth, we are looking for a technical project manager to join our fast-growing auction software business. Start March/April 2023

UK Remote with 4 days month at Northampton training centre
Full Time

We are actively seeking a talented and experienced mid to senior level technical project manager to oversee a wide variety of exciting software projects from conceptual design through to implementation, QA, and handing off to our support team. You will have the chance to network with clients, vendors, and in-house personnel as well as forming strong developer and support relationships with our sprint teams.

This role is part of the leadership team at Auction Marketer.

You will have excellent technical problem-solving and leadership skills along with a calm approach to collaboration and problem solving with prospects, clients, and the in-house teams.

You will also have a proactive approach to risk management, looking at issues strategically with the Directors so that client sentiment is maintained throughout project delivery and beyond.

You will be able to manage multiple concurrent projects at different stages of completeness. You can apply the rigour and ceremonies of scrum but also understand the need for flexibility when required to adhere to the company core KPI’s:

  • Sentiment
  • Retention
  • Billing

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Scoping, producing functional specifications and associated estimates of work. Breaking projects down into task backlog for sprint candidacy.
  • Manage projects with top-down oversight throughout entire execution to ensure success as defined by adherence to standards of scope, budget, and timeline. Being strategic where goals change, making sure clients understand the impact of change on delivery and cost.
  • Brainstorming and developing comprehensive project plans that merge customer requirements with company goals and coordinate various technical personnel during all project phases, from initial development through implementation.
  • Monitor project progress continuously and make detailed scheduled reports on measurable items, such as milestones and deliverables using Asana and Harvest following a scrum methodology.
  • Communicate proactively with all involved personnel to provide encouragement, identify problems and risk, create solutions, and implement efficiency improvements. Involve the leadership team where decision need to be made.
  • Manage daily remote standups for teams to report on progress and challenges during each Sprint burndown.
  • Work in conjunction with DevOps, Client Support and Auction Day Manager to collaboratively identify constant improvement and workflow efficiencies
  • Review proposed modifications on project plans, including meeting with interested parties to approve and implement beneficial changes and to report on project delivery impact (time/budget).
  • Anticipate details and potential timelines of future projects and change requests by communicating directly with customers and keeping the sprint teams abreast of pipeline.
  • Participate in twice weekly task refinement/backlog reviews with the technical leads to ensure that all backlog tasks are fully scoped and timeboxed.
  • Prepare test plans and launch plans for projects/change requests/features
  • Participate in pre UAT QA testing to maximise continuous improvement in our QA functions.

Job Skills & Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Extensive leadership experience and strong teaming abilities
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and risk management
  • Minimum three years management experience in the IT field, including development work and interactions with customers
  • Proven experience of scrum in software development across multiple, concurrent projects.
  • Solid understanding of customer care and client satisfaction drivers throughout project delivery

Preferred:

  • Proficiency with at least one web development language, such as PHP, Node.js, Vue.js
  • Understanding/experience of the Auction industry.
