China, Hupeh - Silver 10 Cents (1895)

Starting off our auction highlights of Baldwin's Auction 108 is this extremely rare coin from the Hupeh Province of China from 1895. A previous example sold at auction in 2008 for an excess of £17,000, whilst this lot completely topped it's £4,000 estimate for a sensational hammer price of £65,000. Only eight others of its kind are known throughout the world currently.

Kuwait, Abdullah Al-Salim Al-Sabah - Gold Pattern 3 Dinars (1959-1965)

Second on our featured lots this week is this excellent gold Pattern 3 Dinars (also called a Sovereign) from Kuwait, featuring the face of Abdullah Al-Salim Al-Sabah, the eleventh ruler of the Sheikhdom of Kuwait and commander-in-chief of Kuwait Military Forces. This lot in particular comes from an ex-private collection, having been in the family for over 40 years, and is just one of two known to come to market in the last 10 years. In fantastic condition, it smashed it's £4,000 estimate for a hammer price of £23,000.

The third lot from our auction highlights this week is this lustrous Polish gold Ducat from 1639, featuring the face of Wladyslaw IV Vasa, the King of Poland (1632-1648), Grand Duke of Lithuania and claimant of the thrones of Sweden and Russia. Seldom found in such fine condition, the coin doubled it's estimate of £6,400 for a final hammer price of £13,000.

Australia, Canada & United Kingdom, Queen's Diamond Jubilee Gold Proof Set of Three (2012)

Fourth in our featured lots from Baldwin's Auction 108 is this unique collaboration between the three Royal Mints of Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom. This gold proof set of three coins for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in 2012 comprises of a £5 crown (UK), $300 with inset diamond (Canada), and gold 50 cents (Australia). Only 375 sets were issued, with the Australian 50 Cent only being issued in this set.

China, Fukien - Silver 10 Cents (1913)

Our final featured lot this week is this fantastic example of this scarcely issued silver 10 cents from the Fukien Province of the Republic of China, circa 1912. Featuring historical, republican flags, the coin quadrupled its £1,200 estimate for a final hammer price of £4,800.
