Starting off our auction highlights this week is this excellent 1858 Postal Fiscal issue collection on 8 pages including Specimens Type GB6 singles (4) and 1s block of four, 5s lower left corner plate block of eight and more. This lot more than doubled its £1,800 - £2,000 estimate with a fantastic hammer price of £4,200.

Leeward Islands - Stamp Duty

Fourth on our featured lots this week is this 1881 hand painted stamp-sized artist's essay of the issued keyplate design in liac on tracing paper. This wonderful essay, seen as the genesis of Leeward Islands philately, and the first revenue issue predating postal issues of Leeward Islands by 8 years, exceeded it's £700-900 estimate for a hammer price of £3,200.

Our final lot in this weeks auction highlights is this wonderful 1890 1d to £5 set of twelve hand painted artist's essays, beautifully executed on thin tracing paper in red and black affixed to archival paper. This set, which displays beautifully, remains unlisted by McClellan as it remains unknown whether the order progressed beyond the design stage.
